Yosemite Photography by Nathan Allen

Below you’ll find my Yosemite Photography categories. It has been quite an honor to spend the year observing one of the greatest wonders of the world.

Shooting in the park through all four seasons was the experience of a lifetime. Without a doubt, I came away with a greater understanding of light, shadow, and the nature of change.

Yosemite Photography – Black and Whites

I waited through many months of hot, cloudless days in the summer, and was finally rewarded by a cold, brooding monsoon season. While I may have been a bit chilled, the incoming clouds signalled the start of my Yosemite black and white photography. Indeed, this was welcomed drama!

Fine Art

The late summer sun left the valley’s creeks and waterfalls sparse, but it turns out this was the perfect fine art and long exposure photography.

Long Exposures

With a good tripod in tow, I meandered through the valley – seeking out light and movement. I learned that the large park waterfalls are not well suited for long exposure photography. However, this only pushed me to get creative and find other worthwhile subjects.

Nature Details

Certainly, there’s a lot more to Yosemite than sweeping landscapes and flowing waterfalls. I challenged myself to capture small nature details I might otherwise overlook – natural patterns, textures…etc. Of course, often this meant I had to get down and shoot at ground level.

Finally, I share my editorial photography album. These photos feature the people, vehicles, and infrastructure that bring a human touch to this granite wonderland.
